Philosophy
We all have a spiritual need. We are social beings in a physical house, the spirit is imperishable and thus we strive to provide a homely, harmonious atmosphere, respecting all people whatever religion, race or creed.
We will ensure that all residents have a sense of security, caring love and companionship. We will strive to create a feeling of personal achievement by assisting them to do as much, for as long and as best they can. The personal feelings, desires and opinions of each must be respected at all times.
Accommodation
Mt Providence Hostel is a 36 bed facility located at Tindale Street Muswellbrook NSW.
- Accommodation is for 35 permanent and one respite resident.
- All rooms have an ensuite, built-in robes and air conditioning.
- The rooms have lovely views of the grounds and gardens.
- A 24 hour emergency call system is in place.
- All meals are provided and are served in the dining room.
- Laundry assistance is provided.
- A well balanced activities programme is enjoyed at the hostel with regular inter-hostel competitions and outings.

- Residents may choose their own medical practitioner. Local doctors visit by arrangement.
Service provision included in the daily fee:
- Bathing, showering, assistance with dressing, grooming and personal hygiene
- Assistance with eating and drinking
- Mobility and toileting assistance
- Communication
- Rehabilitation support
- Individual treatments or procedures
- Individual attention
- Dressings (the cost of dressings will incur a small charge)
- Assistance with medications through the use of a Webster pack (medication cost are additional)
Fees and charges
Fees are payable on a fortnightly basis and are determined by the Department of Health and Aged Care. Fees are automatically direct debited from your nominated bank account. An accommodation bond may also be payable on entering the hostel.
All accounts (ie pharmacy, telephone etc) are payable via our sundry billing system and is direct debited along with fee payments.
The hostel is an agent for the Catholic Development Fund and residents may open an account.
Criteria for admission
Prospective residents must be assessed by the Aged Care Asessemnt Team as needing low level of care. Application forms are available after assessment.
An invitation
Should you be considering Mt Providence as your choice for your new home, the management offer you the opportunity to spend some time with us between 9am and 4pm. This enables you to assess the services and ensure that they meet your needs.
