RSL Care’s Pioneers Retirement Community is located at Longreach in the heart of central western Queensland’s outback.

Pioneers has a relaxed feel and a strong sense of community spirit with an active social committee, regularly organising activities and outings for residents to enjoy. The Pioneers bus conveniently allows residents to go on shopping trips and excursions.
Pioneers Retirement Community caters to residents changing needs with six independent living villas, 16 independent apartment style cottages, 70 residential aged care places accommodating low, high and dementia care needs and RSL HomeCare, in one integrated community.
The range of accommodation and care supports the philosophy of ‘ageing in place’ – as needs change every effort is made to help residents access higher levels of care within the same community.
Residents can enjoy a wide range of on-site community facilities including: a heated swimming pool and spa with outdoor relaxation area, BBQ and shaded gazebo area perfect for a Sunday get together, recreation room featuring a billiards table and an auditorium for larger functions and concerts.
A hairdresser also regularly visits the Community at the residential facility salon.

Independent living villas:
Pioneers’ bustling independent living community comprises six established and well-appointed two bedroom independent living villas and 16 independent apartment style cottages.
Villas are designed with today’s retiree in mind; high quality, represent excellent value and architecturally designed to meet the special needs of seniors.

No more maintenance
Enjoy more time for you. RSL Care maintain the outside of all villas as well as the Community infrastructure and gardens.
No risk guarantee
Villas are resident (equity) funded and are available by way of a loan and license agreement. Any financial risks are reduced with our special buy-back arrangements. RSL Care guarantees to buy back your villa for the price you paid (less deferred fees), if it hasn't sold within 6 months of being put on the market. If your villa sells within 6 months, RSL Care will return to you a half share of the capital gain (less deferred fees).

Residential Care:
RSL Care supports the philosophy 'ageing in place'. This means, as needs change, every effort is made to help residents’ access higher levels of care within the same community.
Pioneers Retirement Community provides residential care for seniors in need, through a mix of low, high and dementia care accommodation. The facility is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by experienced and caring staff.
Low care accommodation
29 private suites are available for residents requiring a low level of care. The facility provides suites with private outdoor areas and shared dining facilities, furnished lounge and TV area. Each private suite is furnished with bedroom furniture and linen, emergency call system, en suite, ceiling fans, evaporative cooling and heaters.
High care accommodation
Available for residents requiring a high level of care, the newly refurbished facility has 25 rooms each offering the option of single or twin share accommodation, an emergency call system, ceiling fans and heaters, over bed lighting, television aerial connection and en-suite.
Dementia care accommodation
16 beds are available in our secure dementia care cottage for residents experiencing dementia related conditions. The cottage is a tranquil environment with a private garden and pergola setting.
