Les McHenry, Accredited Exercise Physiologist

Exercise Physiology is a focus on lifestyle modification, and intervention which may involve one or more of the following strategies:

  • Participation in a graded, structured exericse program.
  • Increasing incidental exercise.
  • Reinforcing healthy eating habits.
  • Cognitive-behavioural strategies.
  • Stress management.

If you have a chronic ongoing condition and complex care needs, see your GP for an Individual Allied Health Services referral under Medicare. This entitles you for a maximum of 5 visits per calendar year. In addition, for people of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent you can get a referral form for follow-up health services under Medicare which gives you a further 5 visits in addition to the Individual referral.

If you are a Type II diabetic you can also get a Group referral for group sessions for a further 8 visits per calendar year. These are again additional visits above the five visits on the individual and follow-up referral.

If you have private health insurance no referral is necessary, unless your health fund specifies!

If you are a Department of Veteran affairs client holding a White or Gold Card you can be referred by your GP on a D904 referral.
