About CET

The Centre of Effective Therapy offers programmes bringing a solution approach to family therapy, counselling, coaching and hypnosis, leading to solid, experiential learning with the opportunity to join our life-long learning community.

Our community is based on fundamental principles such as the individual potential of each human being, the innate resourcefulness in everyone, the possibility of simplicity, and the desire to reduce conflict and suffering.

As a learning community, we are concerned to be practitioners who are genuine, bold in making clinical decisions, sensitive to the individual needs of clients, humble in service, and appreciate learning within the shared human condition.

Our Programmes

Our programmes evolved from Rob McNeilly's personal learning with Milton Erickson and have been enriched by Gabrielle Peacock's translation into direct experiential learning. They align with Bill O'Hanlon's Brief and Inclusive Therapy and Scott Miller's work on outcome and effectiveness. They reflect the leading edge of education influenced by biologist Humberto Maturana and curiologist Heinz von Foerster, as well as Lao Tzu, Joseph Campbell, Werner Erhard, Fernando Flores, Julio Olalla, Rafael Echeverria, course participants, and life's serendipitous experiences.

Programmes emphasise individualised learning through practical experience in a safe and supportive group setting. Participants say this rare experience allows them to apply their skills naturally to their clinical work, and significantly contributes to their personal life.

They do not outline skills required for effective therapy: they offer an invitation to develop sensitivities for doing skillful therapy.

Completion of any programme gives unlimited access to repeating that programme without further payment and life-long professional development through library access, learning seminars, learning congresses, career development and supervision days.

These programmes are not for everybody. They will be of interest to people who value life-long learning by experience, working collaboratively, emphasising human resourcefulness and mutual respect.

If you're interested, you're invited!
