About your Osteopath:
Since graduating with my Master of Osteopathy in 2003, I have worked in several clinics including my own in Richmond NSW. Working with a wide range of community members I have had the opportunity to develop a range of treatment approaches to suit a wide range of patients and conditions. Continuing education is important to me, allowing me to keep up to date with new issues pertinent to daily practice as well as to recommend for you the best treatment for your individual situation. I have recently recommenced studies to further my skills and interest in providing Osteopathic care for the furry members of your family.

What can I expect during an Osteopathic Consultation?
At your initial visit you will need to fill in a comprehensive history form so I can gain an understanding of all the factors which may be limiting your current state of health. Some questions may seem unrelated but all are actually significant in how your body has come to be needing some Osteopathic help. You will then be required to remove some clothing so that a full examination of how your spine in particular is moving can be conducted. Modesty is maintained at all times and if you are uncomfortable with any aspect we can work around this. Osteopathy uses motion assessment as a large part of determining where your body is struggling to maintain it's ability to heal and function optimally.
Once a working diagnosis is formed based on your history and the physical examination, an explanation of your treatment and the expected progress will be given. This allows you to discuss any concerns and understand what will be needed to get you back to your best health, in terms of time, treatment and self-management approaches.
Typically you can expect to see improvement as early as the first treatment. Frequently symptoms may be a little up and down in the first few sessions, however most people find significant relief very quickly.
Is Osteopathic treatment safe?
No medical treatment can be guaranteed to be 100% safe in every case. Even simple painkillers you can buy at the supermarket can be dangerous to some people. Having said that, Osteopaths are trained to recognise when a particular approach might be hazardous to your health. Just as a medical Doctor will give consideration to a wide range of factors in deciding the best and safest approach to treatment, so will your Osteopath. Osteopathy has the best safety record of similar regulated manual therapy approaches, as is reflected by our relatively low professional indemnity insurance costs.
I'd like to know more!
If you have any questions please give me a call and I'll do my best to help you decide if Osteopathy is for you. Due to the nature of practice, if i'm in consultation with a patient I may be unable to get to the phone so just leave a short message and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
I hope to help you and your whole family find your best physical health soon!
