Podiatrists are required to register with the relevant registration body in the state or territory where they practise.
The Australasian Podiatry Council is the professional representative body for podiatrists in Australia. Over 80% of podiatrists practising in the country are members of the association. The council maintains education and competency standards for podiatrists, as well as fulfilling a range of other roles and functions.
State-based associations and Podiatry New Zealand are affiliated members of the Australasian Podiatry Council. Podiatrists join the association at a state level, with each association acting autonomously.
