To facilitate positive change, we help you develop greater self awareness and strategies for managing and dealing with emotional problems and difficulties.

We are experienced in working with children, adolescents, adults and older persons for Individual, Couple, Child, & Family Therapy with a variety of issues. We practice in accordance with professional and ethical codes of conduct as outlined by the NSW Psychologists Registration Board and the Australian Psychological Society. Rebates are available through private health insurance, or, Medicare with referral by your GP, pediatrician or psychiatrist ($123 per session).

Simon has 7 years of private practice experience + 4 years experience at the Northside Clinic (a 94 bed private psychiatric hospital) across two inpatient units and three day programs. Our other therapist, Dr Yasmeen El Masry has a docorate in cilinical psychology and 12 months of working with Simon Turmanis and associates. Yasmeen also has three years’ experience working with adults, children and adolescents in community mental health, inpatient and outpatient settings. Yasmeen is well regarded for providing empathic, practical and effective individual, couple and family therapy for a wide range of presenting issues, including anxiety, depression, work stress, drug & alcohol problems, anger management, grief and loss, parent-child relationships, parenting difficulties, adolescent issues and facilitating adjustment to chronic medical conditions in older people.

We can help with Childhood anxiety, mood and behavioural difficulties; Adolescent self-esteem, mood regulation and anxiety problems; Adult mood and anxiety disorders, trauma, pain management, drug and alcohol, personality disturbance, psychosis; Older person’s mental health problems (anxiety, depression, concerns relating to age-related health problems, mild cognitive impairment/early onset dementia); Anger management, grief and loss, self-esteem, parenting difficulties, pain management, perfectionism, work stress, exposure to a potentially traumatizing event. Simon is an experienced ACT and CBT therapist.

Yasmeen and Simon have expertise in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). This involves helping people to manage difficult thoughts and feelings about themselves, others, the world and their future most effectively through the development of valuable strategies. CBT also helps people to commit to goals in line with their values, all leading to the successful management and prevention of emotional and behavioural difficulties, improved relationships and well being. In line with the values of the practice, Simon Turmanis & Associates, Clinical Psychologists, Yasmeen is building skills as an Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapist.

Melinda is a skilled, patient, caring psychology graduate with client liaison experience who will  sensitively attend to your phone calls, texts and emails when you contact us to enquire about, make, change or cancel an appointment.
