Dr Michelle McArthur
Clinical Psychologist

Michelle is a clinical psychologist with years of experience working as a clinician, lecturer and researcher. She has held positions as a psychologist and senior psychologist in child health, child protection, and child and youth mental health settings. She is trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, as well as theories that inform approaches to infant and early childhood mental health. 

While Michelle's clinical roles have been in child-based settings, she has significant experience working with adults. Intrinisic to working with children is her capacity to help parents and adults in general manage their anxiety, depression and trauma, as well as grief and loss concerns. She is also trained in multiple evidence-based parenting programs, which promote positive parenting practices. Michelle has a keen interest in working with women experiencing post-natal depression and adjustment difficulties. 

Michelle is experienced in working with children and adolescents who have emotional and behavioural difficulties, as well as trauma histories. She also has an interest working with children with disturbed or disrupted attachment histories, who are having difficulty developing relationships with foster or adoptive families.
