Growing up in Miyazaki, Japan it was a tradition to give kata-tataki (shoulder massage) and ashi- fumi (foot massage) to our elders. From childhood, I learned how to give massage – it was a natural way to take care and show respect. The tradition has stayed with me, and it was a natural progression to complete my formal training in Shiatsu and Oriental Therapies.

Shiatsu literally means finger pressure and was developed in Japan as a harmonising therapy to promote health and well-being. It’s origins are in Traditional Oriental Medicine. By stimulation the circulation of blood and the vital energy of the body, Shiatsu aims to achieve a level of balance or homeostasis in the body.

Shiatsu is beneficial for management of pain, anxiety and depression and for general maintenance of health and a feeling of wellness. Shiatsu is done lying fully clothedon a futon. Additional treatments include meridian therapy, moxa, cupping and stretching.

Private health rebates available with some providers.
