Dental technicians work in solo or group practices and larger dental laboratories, making dentures, crowns and bridges, and orthodontic devices for the purpose of correction of dental irregularities.

Most dental technicians are engaged in general prostheses, making partial and full dentures. Some laboratories and dental technicians specialise in maxillo-facial prostheses for people with damaged or missing facial and body tissues or the making of implants.
