Human Genetics Society of Australasia

The Human Genetics Society of Australasia was formed in 1977 to provide a forum for the various disciplines collected under the title of Human Genetics.

The HGSA is a full member of the International Federation of Human Genetics Societies and domestically we work closely with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia as well as other groups through the Pathology Associations Council.

The Society holds an Annual Scientific Meeting each year with visiting international and national speakers. All members of the Society are encouraged to present original work in the form of oral and poster presentations.

The body of the membership consists of ordinary members who are defined as those who hold a recognised qualification in a discipline relevant to Human Genetics and are employed in a position appropriate to this discipline, whether it be as a teacher, clinician, laboratory scientist, counsellor, or in pure research.
