DAA works towards its mission of better food, better health, better living for all through a range of programs and activities including: regular submissions on key nutrition and health issues; promoting accurate and practical nutrition information in the media; working with health professionals in the management of chronic diseases; collaborating with like minded nutrition and health organisations to raise awareness of important health issues and promoting Accredited Practising Dietitians as the nutrition and dietetic experts.
DAA also provides member services and continuing professional development, accredits Australian dietetics training courses, publishes a peer reviewed journal Nutrition & Dietetics, a member’ newsletter and works with all sectors to improve the nutrition and health of Australians. DAA manages the Accredited Practising Dietitian credential – the only national credential recognised by the Australian Government, Medicare, the Department of Veterans Affairs and most private health funds - and the Accredited Nutritionists credential.
