AREMT was established in April 2004 in response to and identified need for a professional Emergency Medical Service organisation for medical technicians.  Medical technicians needed a formal body to recognise their qualifications, to provide training and ongoing professional development.

After reviewing the US NREMT system, we have developed a registration system closely matching NREMT requirements as well as additional Australasian-specific requirements. We now offer memberships in South East Asia, China, Phillipines, Singapore and the United Kingdom.

We have registered Emergency Medical Technicians in each state of Australia.

Private ambulance services have also affiliated with AREMT to provide EMTs with ambulance training and experience, which can only be gained with state ambulance services. Foreign ambulance services have also agreed to provide the same services to AREMT registered affiliates and EMTs.

AREMT has affiliations with related organisations around the globe including the College of Emergency Medicine (UK), Diver Medical Training Group (Canada) International Association of Safety Professionals (USA), Philippine Society of EMTs, SMEDEX Austria, Germany and Switzerland, Australian Private EMS, IBC United Arab Emirates, EMS Training Group and AREMT(M) Sdn Bhd NAEMT NAEMSE IARC.

Through association with counterparts in other countries, we are able to provide EMTs with exchange training overseas.

AREMT offers First Aid Training, Occupational First Aid, First Responders and Emergency Medical Technicians training, as well as Diploma in Paramedic Science through our training partners. All courses are recognised in Australia and internationally.

AREMT looks forward to expanding its professional services - especially across South East Asia, China and Taiwan - and welcome cooperation with related organisations internationally.
