The National Pathology Accreditation Advisory Council (NPAAC) is responsible for the development and maintenance of standards for Australian pathology services. The National Authority of Testing Associations (NATA) is Australia's Government-endorsed provider of accreditation.
Medical imaging services are regulated through various state and territory radiation safety laws. In order to claim Medicare benefits, medical imaging services are required to be accredited by Quality in Practice Pty Ltd (QIP) - appointed by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing .
