The position of Director of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) Centre for Mental Health offers a challenging and exciting opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development of a centre of excellence within Joint Health Command to provide leadership, best practice and innovation in military mental health.

The ADF Centre for Mental Health is located in Sydney. You will be a senior member and leader of a small dynamic and expert team developing and delivering a robust program of mental health consultancy services, training and upskilling the ADF mental health workforce, and overseeing and conducting applied research in relation to clinical interventions in military mental health.

As a Director you will be a senior leader within the Health Policy, Programs and Assurance Branch within Joint Health Command with responsibility for the provision of policy, programs, research and assurance systems that support the delivery of quality and effective health care to ADF members. You will work closely with other Directors to ensure that advice and initiatives from the Centre are informed by specialist input from across the Branch and the Command and where appropriate from external expert sources.

You will initiate and maintain strong relationships with a network of internal and external stakeholders and utilise these to work towards mutually beneficial outcomes, including managing risk from a multi-agency approach. You will represent the Centre, the Branch and the Command at key forums and multi-agency meetings and contribute to the collaborative approaches that support Joint Health Command and broader initiatives to improve mental health and wellbeing across the ADF.

You will have demonstrated knowledge and experience in the application of clinical and other related research to support the implementation of evidence-based practice across multi-disciplinary service settings, in the training and supervision of mental health professionals, and the development and application of policy, governance and assurance systems to support quality outcomes. It will be important for you to demonstrate that you can apply your experience to the ADF environment. You will need to be a qualified and registered psychologist with a proven experience in clinical leadership and management.
