Rheumatology, a subspecialty of internal medicine, focuses on diagnosing and treating rheumatic and musculoskeletal disorders. Rheumatologists treat arthritis, some autoimmune diseases, musculoskeletal pain disorders and metabolic bone disorders - most commonly osteoporosis.
Rheumatologists are Fellows of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and use the post-nominals FRACP. The Australian Rheumatology Association is the professional body representing rheumatologists in Australia.
