Al-Anon Family Groups

Al-Anon Family Groups is a fellowship for family members and friends of alcoholics.
  • The Al-Anon/Alateen website lists local groups nation-wide. There are approx 450 Al-Anon and Alateen (for teenage or younger family members) in Australia. Al-Anon Information Offices are in each state with the national office in Melbourne.

  • The worldwide organisation produces a number of publications, including The Forum magazine, and in Australia, the Austra-Link magazine and other Al-Anon and Alateen newsletters are produced. A range of books and pamphlets describes how alcoholism affects the family and how the support of Al-Anon and Alateen helps.

  • The Al-Anon and Alateen program is based on the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous and the groups are united and guided by Twelve Traditions and Twelve Concepts. Alateen, for young people from 8 to 19 years of age, is part of Al-Anon Family Groups.

  • Al-Anon is present in over 110 countries around the world.
