Parenting Research Centre

The PRC is Australia’s only independent non-profit parenting research and development centre, dedicated to helping all parents raise happy, healthy children.

Our research focuses on:

  • factors that impact parenting (fatigue, chronic medical illness, learning difficulties)
  • parenting in adversity where children are at risk of harm and neglect
  • parenting children with high and complex needs (autism spectrum disorder, chronic medical illness)
  • parenting for health and wellbeing (childhood obesity)
  • developing effective universal and targeted parenting interventions

Our projects and programs include:

  • Raising Children Network: the trusted and award-winning Australian parenting website,  www.raisingchildren.net.au
  •  Early Days online workshops for parents of children with autism spectrum disorder, www.earlydays.net.au
  • MyTime: peer support groups for parents and grandparents of children with chronic medical illness or disability, www.mytime.net.au
  • Signposts: parenting programs for families to manage children with an intellectual disability or developmental delay, www.signposts.net.au
  • ABCD Parenting Young Adolescents, www.abcdparenting.org
  • Early Home Learning Study: a landmark study that aims to identify the best way to support parents to create a rich home learning environment for their young children from birth to three years
