Positive Life SA is committed to providing high quality evidence based services and programs for people living with HIV throughout SA. Programs & services aim to promote:
- accessibility to information & other services
- community education about living with HIV
- connectivity between positive people
- personal education for positive people & those affected by HIV
- positive health for positive people
Positive Living Centre
Positive Life SA runs the Positive Living Centre where people can come and access:
- health promotion resources
- short term support
- referrals to other support agencies
- advocacy
- treatments information
- community drop-in - reading library - internet - family space - games area
Services and Programs
Positive Life SA programs focus on building and maintaining positive lives and increasing social connection for positive people. These services include:
- For Positive People Only
- The HIVE is a food store providing a range of food and grocery items for HIV+ people experiencing unexpected hardship
- No Interest Loans Scheme (NILS)® provides interest free loans for: + New Household Goods (up to $1000) + Non-emergency Vet Procedures (up to $500) + Medical Items (up to $500)
- Small Loans Scheme provides an immediate $20 cash loan
- Access to Financial Assistance through the Red Ribbon Bobby Goldsmith Fund (RRBGF)
- For HIV+ & Closely Affected (e.g. family)
- Massage, and other Complementary Therapies (eg Reiki, Aromatherapy), are available free of charge. Bookings are essential
- Community Tool Library provides a range of garden and home maintenance tools that can be borrowed at no cost
- Vitamin Co-op provides at cost vitamins
- $5 Fridays are a lunch program run every Friday 12-1.30pm. A 2 course meal is available for $5. Bookings essential
- Poz on Poz is a group for gay & gay-friendly men based on a philosophy of being “positive” in philosophy and outlook.
- Activities & Events
- Planet Positive is a quarterly social event for positive people and their friends
- Poz Café is a quarterly topic-based forum event held to enable the poz community to get together and discuss relevant topics of interest and to explore solutions
- Chat Club is a series of stand-alone information sessions on HIV for newly diagnosed people and others wanting to increase their knowledge of HIV
- Poz Day Out is a twice yearly ‘day out’ for positive people and their ‘families’
- Planet Positive is a quarterly social event for positive people and their friends
Community Engagement
Positive Life SA encourages and strengthens the building of community through a focus on prevention, awareness raising and positive health and wellbeing.
Positive Speakers Bureau (PSB)
The PSB consists of HIV positive people who share their personal stories and add a human face to the issues of living with HIV/AIDS. The PSB provides a strong public voice about the lived experience of HIV+ people. To discuss your speaker requirements contact reception.

Without valued volunteers Positive Life SA programs would cease to exist. Opportunities are available in the following areas:
