Odyssey House gives residents something that problematic alcohol, drug and gambling misuse and its attendant behaviours never can: a future!

Odyssey House was founded in 1977 and provides residential and non-residential rehabilitation programs for men and women with a drug, alcohol or gambling problem. When appropriate, the dependent children of residents participating in the program may also receive accommodation and support to help minimise the adverse effects of their parent’s addiction.

The range of services provided include:

Admissions centre
Assessment and referral service
Detoxification program
Drug and alcohol counselling
Gambling counselling
Parents and children’s program
Residential drug and alcohol rehabilitationprograms, including professional vocation and education services
Residential gambling rehabilitation program
Progressive Learning Centre
After Care Program

The treatment method used at Odyssey House is unique in that it treats problematic drug misuse and its attendant behaviours as symptomatic of underlying problems. There are five basic rules that all Odyssey House residents and staff must follow. They are: no alcohol or other drugs, no violence, no sex, no stealing and no gambling. Violation of these rules may result in exclusion from the program.

The value system that all residents must follow is based on love, trust, honesty, responsibility and concern. The Odyssey House rehabilitation and counselling programs are not easy. All participating clients undergoing the process of rehabilitation must work hard, change any negative attitudes and values and actively participate in all aspects of the program.
