ARAFEMI's mission is "To promote and improve the well being of people affected by mental illness. ARAFEMI is Victoria's lead provider of support for families and carers of people with mental illness. Our range of specialist community mental health programs are designed to encourage and support recovery from mental illness.

Services include:

• ARAFEMI offers Telephone support, information and referral for families and friends of people experiencing mental illness.
• Support groups for families and friends of people who have a mental illness, including a range of specialist support groups.
• Education and skills training courses for carers.
• Professional development and training in working with carers.
• Bipolar Support Group.
• ARAFEMI has a specialist carer library with resources about mental illness.
• Banyan House, ARAFEMI’S respite house has 24-hour or outreach support, planned and emergency respite, and carer respite.
• ARAFEMI provides accommodation support via its home based and intensive outreach programs to people experiencing psychiatric disability.
• Online Carer Support: Message Board and Chat Room.
• Carer Couselling Service.
• Linwood Prevention and Recovery Care (PARC) is a service for people who are at risk of relapse or who are recovering from an episode of mental illness. This is a clinical partnership program, where recovery from sub acute mental illness is supported through 24 hour care in a homelike environment.
