Dr Susan Pulman

Dr Susan Pulman was appointed to the Panel of Expert Witnesses for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions by Nicholas Cowdery (who was Director at the time of her appointment). She is the only clinical neuropsychologist in NSW to be appointed to the Panel. She holds endorsements as a clinical neuropsychologist and a forensic psychologist having trained at the Sydney University Law School on mental illness law, disability law and expert evidence.

Dr Pulman has more than 20 years experience as a psychologist. She is highly experienced in conducting neuropsychological assessments of both children and adults with a broad range of psychological and neurological conditions including traumatic brain injury, dementia, drug and alcohol abuse, complex trauma, depression, schizophrenia and personality disorders. She is the leading forensic neuropsychologist on fitness to stand trial matters having supervised a major study into cognitive capacity in the criminal jurisdiction. Her expertise is sought by the Mental Health Review Tribunal on risk assessment for forensic patients and she is regularly asked to provide opinion for the NSW Police force as a member of their expert panel.

She also conducts assessments submitted to the Guardianship Tribunal and personal injury matters. She has conducted training in the assessment of permanent impairment for Workcover and the NSW Motor Accident Authority (MAA). She has been invited to make submissions to the NSW Law Reform Commission and to participate in their round table discussions on issues relating to cognitive impairment.

In her experience as a senior management consultant and corporate psychologist with PricewaterhouseCoopers Dr Pulman has worked with various insurance companies on identifying best practice across the industry. She has the advantage of having conducted job and leadership competency analysis within the insurance industry and is particularly skilled at identifying key return to work issues following injury. She incorporates such competency frameworks into her assessment approach.
