Health industry resources - Education/Training

Australian universities offering medical and health education are highly regarded nationally and internationally. They welcome medical, nursing and allied health students from across the globe.

The high standards maintained by educational institutions are assured by strict accreditation rules. Australian health professionals and their education is regulated by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and relevant National Boards. There are Accreditation Authorities for each profession - they assess courses and the organisations that deliver them; and recommend accreditation standards to National Boards for approval. Australian medical schools are accredited by the Australian Medical Council. The accrediting authority for courses leading to national nursing and midwifery registration is the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council.

Health professionals in Australia are required by law to maintain their skills by continuous professional development.
