The growing demand for complementary therapies has been recognised by the Australian Government in 2002, when it assisted several organisations with funding to develop national registration systems for suitably qualified practitioners (National Herbalists Association of Australia, Australian Traditional Medicine Society Ltd, Australian Natural Therapists Association Ltd, Federation of Natural and Traditional Therapists, and the Australian Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Association Ltd).
