Dr Ross Fowler

Dr Ross Fowler is a consultant Urological Surgeon with subspecialty fellowship training in robotic, laparoscopic and open management of prostate, kidney and bladder cancer.

Dr Fowler completed his Bachelor of Science and postgraduate Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery degrees at the University of Queensland. Ross completed his advanced surgical training in Urology and was made a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) and the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand (USANZ). He then undertook an additional one year international fellowship in robotic and laparoscopic urological oncology In the UK at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, one of only a few centres accredited by the European Robotic Urology Section (ERUS) for training robotic surgeons.

Ross works publicly at QEII Hospital. He is passionate about education and is heavily involved in training medical students, junior doctors and specialist training urologists. He currently holds a position as senior lecturer at the University of Queensland and is a former board member of Board of Urology (USANZ). 

Dr Fowler’s areas of special interest include:

  • Prostate cancer (including Retzius Sparing Robotic Prostatectomy) 
  • Kidney cancer (including Robotic partial nephrectomy)
  • Bladder cancer 
  • Complex Kidney stone management and prevention (Supine PCNL + laser treatment) 
  • Voiding dysfunction & Benign prostate enlargement (REZUM, Urolift, VCMGs)

Ross takes a friendly approach to his care; he enjoys getting to know his patients, helping them understand their urological condition and making them feel as comfortable as possible.
